Read Across AmericaEvery year, the month of March is National Reading Month, with March 2nd designated as National Read Across America Day. The day was established by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998 to help get kids excited about reading.

OKES will celebrate these events with our own "Read Across America" week. From February 28–March 4th, students can come to school dressed to match the book of the day! Uniforms are not required, but clothing must be school-appropriate.

Monday, February 28th: Glowing Crazy for Books
  • Book of the Day: Neon Leon
  • Wear neon colors

Tuesday, March 1st: Team Up with Books
  • Book of the Day: Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Sportsmanship
  • Wear your favorite sports shirt or jersey

Wednesday, March 2nd: Crazy About Reading
  • Book of the Day: Crazy Hair Day
  • Wear crazy socks and hair

Thursday, March 3rd: Reading is Relaxing
  • Book of the Day: The Very Sleepy Sloth
  • Wear pajamas and bring your favorite book to read during the day

Friday, March 4th: Hats Off to Books
  • Book of the Day:Hat's Off to Mr. Pockles!
  • Wear your favorite hat
